CM registration procedure for courses

When you create an instance and specify a limited capacity for the course, you must also determine how the campus management system should handle overbooking. To do this, select one of the three options in the corresponding field in the window for editing instances, which are explained below.

Lottery procedure

Select the option in case of overbooking lottery procedure if you want the campus management to automatically allocate the free places to the students by lottery. After the registration deadline, as many students will then be drawn as indicated in the capacity.

This is a good option if you do not want to prioritize seats in any particular way and do not want to worry about allocating seats any further. However, if you want to prioritize a certain group of students in the allocation of seats, you should not select this option.

No automatic seat allocation

Select the option No automatic seat allocation if you want to manually select which students may participate in case of overbooking. After the registration deadline, you can then view the list of provisional registrations and make a selection. You will send this selection to the examination office, which will manually register the actual students.

Important: You should only select this option if you have previously agreed on the procedure with the examination office, as it means extra work for the staff there.

The option No automatic seat allocation is useful, for example, if you want to give a certain group of students a higher priority, such as a seminar in which Master's students are preferred to participate. The option is also useful for block courses outside the lecture period, for example, if you can see a few weeks after a preliminary meeting at the beginning of the semester which students are actually preparing presentations and who have decided not to participate.

No Studi-registration

Select the No studi-registration option if you do not want students to register for the course directly via Campus Management. In this case, students cannot register for the course in Campus Management, but can, for example, register with you, whereupon you send the list of participants to the examination office.

Important: You should only select this option if you have previously agreed on the procedure with the examination office, as it means additional work for the staff there.

The option No student registration is particularly useful if the registration is to take place at a later time than the registration period in the Campus Management, for example in the case of block courses during the lecture-free period or new courses that have arisen at short notice.
