Main features. Database application design with ER model. Theoretical foundations of relational database systems: relational algebra, functional dependencies, normal forms. Relational database development: SQL data definition, foreign keys and other integrity conditions. SQL: essential language elements, embedding in programming languages, application programming. Transaction concept, concurrency control, recovery (introduction). Applications and new developments: Data warehousing, OLAP, no SQL.
