This module introduces the three focus areas “Data Science for Bioinformatics”, “Complex Systems in Bioinformatics” und “Advanced Algorithms in Bioinformatics” through representative problems and introduces select approaches for their solution.
In the project work, students will work on exemplary problems to obtain hands-on experience in the three focus areas. The project work will be performed in groups of up to three students.

Requirements
To successfully complete the module, a pass in all four of the following categories is required:
- Data Science:
- Work on weekly projects
- Written report (one project)
- Oral presentation (one project)
- Complex Systems:
- Solve weekly exercise sheets
- Present solution (to one exercise)
- Written report on last exercise
- Advanced Algorithms:
- Work on project
- Written report
- Oral presentation
- Poster presentation:
- Prepare and present a scientific poster on your results (in one focus area) at the end of the semester
