Quantum-many-body physics lies at the heart of intriguing behaviour of solid states and is the foundation for recent advances on the way to build a quantum computer. Analyzing these systems analytically or even numerically is often infeasible due to their intrinsic complexity. In this seminar, we are going to explore some of the novel tools to none the less tackle these problems. Based on Lieb-Robinson bounds and tensor network methods, we will address the behaviour of these systems and connect to some of the open problems in the field, including the emergence of thermodynamics and the prospect to use experimental set-ups as quantum simulators.
