Seminar on Optimization and AI in Air and Train Freight Management.
A concise overview over all dates and requirements can be found here:
Additional Information
The seminar will be held as a block seminar. Whether it will be held on-site or online depends on the pandemic situation.
Date and time:
- first meeting (Introduction and paper assignment): 22.04, 16:00 Uhr, WebEx. The link will be posted here on time.
- second meeting (Kick-off Talks): TBA (decided in the first meeting) in the middle of the semester, most likely at ZIB, ca. one hour
- third meeting (Presentations): TBA (decided in the first meeting) at the end of the semester, two to three days depending on the number of participants
Students should have some prior knowledge about discrete mathematics and optimization.
In the second meeting, you are required to give a short presentation of about 5 min introducing your subject.
The main presentation should include a literature search consisting of a forward- and backward-search.
You are required to prepare a summary on your paper in printing quality (LaTex, 5 pages). It should be handed 14 days prior to your talk in digital form. It will be graded and handed back 7 days prior to your talk so you'll have some feedback already before your talk. The actual seminar will be held as a block seminar in the last week of the semester. It will take two to three days depending on the number of participants. A presentation consists of a 45 minute talk and 15 minutes reserverd for questions.
Participating in the *whole* seminar and handing in your summary on time are mandatory for passing the seminar.
The final grade will be weighted 60% for your talk and 40% for your summary.
