Introduction to analogue modelling of (seismo)tectonic processes S23
to Whiteboard Site

Description

Blockcourse on "Introduction to analogue modelling of (seismo)tectonic processes".

Requirements:

This block course is recommended for MSc students interested in sedimentary basins and structural geology, mountain building, and seismotectonic. Also, BSc students with a basic background in structural geology/tectonics/sedimentary basins/ earthquakes will be qualified for the course.

Content:

The focus of the course will be on the (seismo)tectonic processes and cover material property measurements by laboratory machinery (e.g., ring-shear tester), principal experiments mimicking different tectonic settings at different timescales (from earthquake to mountain building), and high-resolution laboratory monitoring techniques.

Zusätzliche Informationen

The course will be held as a 6-day block course before the summer semester, and the final exam will be a practical/report exam during the semester. The detail will be discussed before starting the course.

The course will be held mainly at HelTec - Helmholtz Laboratory for Tectonic Modelling at GFZ in Potsdam

There is currently no registration in Campus Management possible. For registration, please contact Ehsan Kosari, ehsan@gfz-potsdam.de
