This interdisciplinary course combines mathematics (analysis and numerics of pdes) geosciences (concepts of modelling flow and transport in porous media) and commercial software development (FEFLOW®, a 3D-groundwater simulation system). Each of the three organizers will provide two focus lectures providing basic insight into his field. The lectures will be complemented by guided exercises using paper, pencil and particularly the computer. Finally the students will solve selected practical problems in small teams and present their results.
Students of mathematics and geosciences
Basic knowledge on pdes might help.
