Ziel der LV:

Die Studentinnen und Studenten können Standardprogramme im Bereich der Sequenzanalyse selbständig benutzen. Sie kennen die verschiedenen Konzepte und sind in der Lage, ausgewählte Systeme zu bedienen und zu programmieren. Die Studentinnen und Studenten können neue Workflows konzipieren und die Ergebnisse grafisch aufbereiten.

Work Plan (preliminary)

During the green phase you will learn about stable and reproducible design of analysis pipelines using the Snakemake framework. In hands on exercises you will - as a sideline - also learn about a bunch of standard tools often used in most NGS analysis projects.

In the orange phase, you will work on training projects from different areas of NGS analysis (genomics, metagenomics, transcriptomics,...), design and implement you own analysis pipelines. You will be guided but this part already requires individual effort.

Finally, in the blue phase, you will work on a larger project and apply all the skills you gained from the training projects, which will then decide on the grade for the course.

Passing the course

During green and orange phase, you need to hand in solutions to those tasks that are marked for submission. Providing acceptable (not necessarily perfect) solutions to at least 80% of the tasks means passing "aktive Teilnahme".

The submission (code and report) of the final project in the blue phase will be graded and this will be the final course grade. Details on the scoring will be discussed in detail later!
