Description

Seminar presentations of recent articles on various numerical methods applied to complex systems ranging from statistical mechanics, biological to soft-matter systems. Examples are methods related to optimization, sorting, clustering, recognition, prediction, searching.

A tentative list seminar topics this term is:

- Nonlinear Optimization
- MD Simulations of protein folding with special purpose computers
- Neuronal Networks applied on weather data

- Animal Searching Algorithms
- Modeling of motion and motility of cells and organisms
- Computational Limits on Simulating biological cells and organs
- Modeling diffusion of CO2 and aerosols in rooms
- SIR Dynamics in Random Networks
- Monte Carlo Simulation of Ising Model: Histogram Method
- Modeling of aerosol droplet evaporation
- Quantum Finite Temperature Barrier Crossing
- Nanofiltration Devices

Literature for all the seminar talks will be made available in the first meeting on Tuesday November 3 at 14:15 in the webex meeting room.

All the students, that want to give a presentation, have to send to lauraluna@zedat.fu-berlin.de their choices by Thursday November 5.
