This module introduces the three focus areas “Data Science for Bioinformatics”, “Complex Systems in Bioinformatics” und “Advanced Algorithms in Bioinformatics” through representative problems and introduces select approaches for their solution.

In the project work, students will work on exemplary problems to obtain hands-on experience in the three focus areas. The project work will be performed in groups of up to four students. Each group will have to

  • Hand in a written project report for each focus area
  • Give an oral presentation on the results of one project
  • Prepare and present a poster with their work (on one focus area) at the end of the semester
  • Participate in peer review

To successfully complete the module, a pass in all four of the above categories is required.

The first block on Data Science will be shared with the Data Science master program.
