Past reefs: Reef evolution, controlling factors in Earth's history.
Reefs as archives of past climate and environmental change.
Present-day reefs: Benefits, threats: anthropogenic influence, global climate change, coral bleaching.
Reefs of the future: reef protection/management (individual, regional, global), scenarios
Possibly visit to the Berlin Zoo aquarium (or optional in Stralsund: Meeresmuseum, Ozeaneum)
Seminar:
Develop and present short presentations on a topic of your choice
