- For students of the Master's programme "Meteorology": there is no differentiated assessment.
- For Students of the Master's programme "Planetary Sciences and Space Exploration": They attend both the lecture and action learning class (=exercise); there is a differentiated examination assessment.
Admission requirements: None.
Qualification goals: The students obtain basic knowledge about the atmospheric life cycle of mineral dust and its interactions in the atmospheric environment. They are able to apply their knowledge independently to current research questions and to synthesise resulting results.
Contents: Atmospheric dust life cycle, dust sources, dust emission processes and entrainment of dust into the atmosphere, dust transport and atmospheric residence time, desert meteorology, dust-atmosphere interactions, social relevance of regional and global mineral dust distribution.
