We will cover the basics to derive the governing balance equations, address commonly faced problems, their origins, and means to control them by a combination of lectures, computer exercises
- Mass and energy balance; How to derive a partial differential equation:
- Short introduction to basic numerical methods such as Finite Differences, Finite Volumes, and, in particular, Finite Elements; Advection and Dispersion;
- Highly nonlinear problems; Variable-density flow; Coupled-equation system; convection phenomena
- The FEFLOW® simulation system will be used for the computational exercises.
The lectures will be given in English or German as appropriate.
