This module for students of geosciences aims at proving a general understanding of the principles of climate variability and application of marine carbonate for climate and environmental reconstructions.
The course will focus specifically on climate science, time scales of climate variability and an introduction to marine-paleoarchives from carbonate material. Students will also learn the basics on how to obtain and process proxy information, proxy calibration, data analysis and interpretation. This would be done through a practical with real coral paleoclimatology data from which a paper-style report will be produced.
