The physics of many-particle systems needs mathematical foundations for its dynamical and statistical treatment.
The work of Joel Lebowitz and Elliott Lieb have laid the mathematical justification of the existence of thermodynamics (quantum and classical) in the way physicists and chemists have interpreted data of experiments and basic models of atoms and molecules. In this seminar we will discuss the principles at the basis of such a theories and extend it to modern approaches in research, such as their implementation in computational simulation of matter.
