In this seminar we will study distributed algorithms with a preference for algorithms and protocols used in crypto-currency systems, such as, e.g.,

  • Consensus in BitCoin/Ethereum
  • BitCoin Mining
  • Litecoin Mining
  • Proof of Work vs. Proof of Stake (Ethash algorithm)
  • permissioned/permissionless blockchains
  • Stratum mining protocol
  • Consistency protocols, eventual consistency
